Jesus has given us a promise. He has told us that if He is high and lifted up, He will draw all men unto Him. He will draw men unto Him. It means that when we praise God, when we lift Him up, He is already drawing the souls of men unto Him. The connection is that when He is high and lifted up, He will do His part and draw all men unto Him. Thank God we know now at least, the part we have to play. We just have to open our mouths and tell them the good news.
There seems to be a forgotten harvest, but today we remember that harvest. The forgotten harvest is the harvest of souls and God has drawn them unto Him. People are dying and headed for hell everyday but we know Him. We lift Him up and He says, “If you lift Me up, I will draw men unto Me. Just lift Me up. I will do My part and then you do your part.” There is a forgotten harvest; we shall reap also of that harvest. I know that now Port Harcourt is a place almost everybody is born again.
I was sharing with the media group, we were talking about our 25th Anniversary, and how church was when we started. And the sister we were sharing with was shocked. She has never heard this story before. Then I used to work in a company in Trans Amadi along Ordnance. My lunchtime, I will come out in my coveralls, my engineering coveralls and stand at Ordnance bus stop. And everything that moved; if you made the mistake of moving by me, God help you if you do not get born again. And it was a bit easier then because a lot of people were not born again. But do you know that everybody now who tells you they are born again is not born again. Are you hearing me? They are not born again. I want to wake us today to the forgotten harvest because the harvest that is the heartbeat of God.
Then if I entered a taxi, God help you if you are the person sitting next to me. I will so disturb you until we reach the destination and you will get born again even if it is to leave me. And I remember one of the brothers who joined the church then; we were the first choir. There were four of us. And this brother, the only one blessed among women, I met him in a taxi on my way to Enugu or somewhere. And I so preached to him and preached to him and preached to him till we got to Enugu. He gave his life, his soul, his shoes, his leg to Jesus Christ. And then we had little cards, I gave him the card for the church and he came to church. He was one of the oldest members of the church then. Today he is late; thank God I met him in that taxi because I know where he is today. Amen.
There are people sitting down beside you in the taxis; there is a cleaner in your work place, they are part of the forgotten harvest. You might be nice enough to give that cleaner five hundred naira; awesome, that is a great blessing. You might even be training that cleaner’s child through school; that is amazing. However, have you told them about Jesus? He says, “I will draw all men unto me.” We are a praising church; it means He is drawing men here as we lift Him up. The question is: “Are we seeing them?” There is a forgotten harvest, church, but we will remember them today.
Jesus said, “Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest” (John 4:35). You might say in your heart, “That one is a rich and influential man, I cannot preach to him.” Who said so? You might also say, “That sister is so dedicated to the things of God, there is no need to preach to her.” How do you know that? She might be in need of encouragement at that point. It is about souls; that is the heartbeat of God. Let us make up our minds today and always to remember the forgotten harvest. Go and visit with your neigbours, tell them about Jesus. It is great to tell them about the church programmes; it is wonderful to invite them, but there is something even bigger than that. Tell them the reason why you live. In addition, they will see your miracles of healing, your miracles of provision and they will be testimonies to them. They will see Jesus in you. Do not say, “Let my life speak.” Instead, let your mouth and your life speak in unison.
When I heard the Praise/Worship Team singing, “He is high and lifted up,” I heard in my heart that “I have promised one thing; I will draw all men unto Me.” Sometimes we joke about the last days. I make that joke a lot. Some things happen and I say, “Kai, these are the last days.” Recently I said it to my brother and he said, “In fact, these are the last seconds.” And it is true. It is true. Or don’t you get it? These are the last days and so the enemy is working overtime; he is now scooping people in there hundreds straight to hell fire. He knows his days are numbered so he wants to get as many people in there as possible. And we are the church of Jesus Christ, but we have been like the sleeping giant in the world. Earthquake and then another earthquake; these are the signs Jesus spoke about. However, Jesus also said that as much as He is going to come soon, everybody is going to hear about Him; everybody is going to get a chance to hear about Him. Some will hear about Him through creation, but I do not think that anybody in Port Harcourt should hear about Jesus through creation if you are here. They should hear about Him through us.
There is a forgotten harvest. There are souls to rake into the kingdom, church, and God is counting on us. Yes, of course, when you get people born again, you follow them up, some of then will come to church; the numbers will increase, awesome. But there is something still greater than that; you get them out of the shackles of the enemy.
Let us go home and meditate on this. Let us make up our minds that every single chance we get we will tell people about Jesus Christ. You have people who are working with you; tell them about Jesus Christ. If they tell you they are already born again, great, then share the Word with them, encourage them, give them CDs and books to build them up so that they can really stand in their faith. For there is so much we are sitting on, we are almost like a constipated people. And that is what happened to the United States of America. The church sat there constipated, silent, focusing on the things that didn’t matter and systematically God Almighty was kicked out of that nation, and now the Supreme Court (you have all heard it) has ruled it: Gay marriage is legal in all the fifty states or how many states that they have. Where was the church when that happened? They woke up late. And now men are marrying men legally, and the church is blaming Obama. They gave Obama room to do what he did. How many people have you given room around us because we are not speaking up? We have the most authority that exists on the earth. I want to say it again: The church of Jesus Christ has the most authority that exists on the earth. The blessing is the highest authority that exists on the earth. I did not say in heaven; the blessing is the highest authority because authority is delegated power. No vice-president or president on earth has authority like you because your authority comes from above. But what are you doing with you authority?
It is so easy to get people born again because Jesus desires it more than you. When you realize this, the fear will go. The gospel is so full of power. People come to visit you from the village, they come through your house, you give them a wonderful time, feed them, buy things for them, dress them, pay their school fees and they go back to the village; and it will never occur to you that this was part of the forgotten harvest. However, today we remember.
Every single place you have been placed as a child of God, you have been placed there strategically by God because of this forgotten harvest. That is why you work in that place; that is why you live in that compound; that is why you come from that village. You will not be like the lepers who said, “We do not well.” We know that we need to get up and tell people that there is food in the King’s house.
Sharing the gospel is not you drawing them. No, that becomes coercive and manipulative. Understand that there is grace already; Jesus is most interested in getting people saved. The Bible says, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15). When we support missions, they are preaching the gospel but we should not just rely on supporting the missions. Everyday, you meet somebody. Let us work with the same urgency and greater than the Devil is working with. He is working over time reaping souls into hell fire and the church is negotiating, the church is afraid.
You might say, “If I talk to my boss, I might lose my job. “Wisdom is profitable to direct.'” May be or may be not. Moreover, if you do lose your job, do you think God cannot give you another job if the reason you lost your job is because you talked to your boss about Christ? The greatest wisdom is preaching the gospel because the blessing is the highest authority on this earth and you have that authority. Thank the Father for the grace that is upon you.
Say after me, “Lord, that grace is upon me, the anointing is upon me, the blessing is upon me, the highest authority on the earth is upon me. I have boldness; I have compassion for the lost. When I see the lost, I see your heart beat for them, Lord You can count on me from today, Father. You can count on me. No more fear. You can count on me. I will open my mouth because I have the grace and You have already drawn them unto You. I will preach about you, I will share about your love; I will share about your goodness. It is all about You, Lord. I will remember the forgotten harvest, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
We are going to have an outpouring of testimonies. A lot of you will testify that you never realized that it would be so simple to win souls for Christ. In addition, you will be responsible for taking one soul from hell straight to heaven. That is one of the best feelings you can have in the whole world when you know that you have just led somebody from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son.
