Your Giving Is to Your Advantage

15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.
16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:15-19

Songs, poems, sermons and faith confessions have all been written out of Paul’s famous prayer Philippians 4:19. Anyone who has been a believer for at least one year will know that phrase, “..my God shall supply all your need..”

Well, I want to introduce the Philippian church to you. This is the church for which Paul prayed that famous prayer. He didn’t say it to the Ephesians, Colossians, Thessalonians and other churches, so there must have been a reason why he said it to the Philippians. This is why he said it. Before he prayed that famous prayer for them, he said that not one church shared with him in the matter of giving and receiving, except the Philippians (Philippians 4:15). He said in effect: “You always give to me willingly and repeatedly, taking care of all my needs. Each time an opportunity presents itself to put credit in your account by giving to me, you grab it! Even after I have left, you create opportunities and still send more gifts to me.” These people understood that their giving was to their advantage.

Your God-inspired giving is not designed to take from you, reduce you, or make you poor. It’s designed to pros per you. Every time you get an opportunity to give, God is giving you an open door to prosperity on a plate. Your giving is organized to increase you God’s way. You only stand to gain when you learn to support God’s work with a high proportion of what you have. It is only a foolish man who sees something that is to his advantage and walks away from it.

Confession:
My giving is to my advantage. It is designed to prosper me. Every opportunity to give is an open door to prosperity and I will seize every opportunity to put credit in my account.
