41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much.

Jesus Christ became poor that you might be rich. Paul was inspired to write: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). The reason you have wealth is because He gave up the abundance He had lived in before the foundation of the world in order to come as a Man to earth. That’s why Jesus is not shy to ask you for money. The fact that there is abuse does not mean that there isn’t a normal use. The fact that ministers stand at the pulpit and openly “steal” money from their congregations so that they can own five jeeps and ten houses doesn’t mean that Jesus is not going to ask you for your money.

Jesus sat down opposite where people were giving money. It means that when the popular: “Offering time, blessing time,” announcement is made in your church, it would help you to imagine that Jesus comes and positions Himself in the most strategic position to see what you’re giving. When we’re giving and we don’t think it’s much, we hide the money; but when it is much, we show it off! However you do it, He sees it. Jesus is there personally to take a look at what you’re giving.

It’s no secret to Jesus what you give. The Bible says when you’re giving to the poor, don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing (Matthew 6:3). However, realize that the activities of your “left hand” are an open secret to Jesus. Friend, it is time to remove the shyness and bashfulness where giving is concerned and realize that it is an honour and privilege to give.

Confession:
It is an honour and privilege to give to my Lord and Master who left heaven to come and die for me to give me prosperity. My gift is no secret to Him and so there is no shyness where my giving to Him is concerned.
