Wisdom from the Ant

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.

Proverbs 6:6

The Bible says to go to the ant and study its ways. As I studied the ant closely, I discovered that its ways will bring increase to anybody. One of the things to learn from the ant is its fore-sight. Proverbs 30:25 says, “The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer.” Summer is not the time for harvest. The ants know that a season will come when they will need food but not have access to it. So they begin to plan ahead for that season. If you are going to experience increase, like the ants, you must have foresight. Foresight is the ability to see something before it happens. It helps you to plan for what is ahead. This principle of fore-sightedness can’t be overemphasized and covers many areas of our lives. Someone once said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

No responsible couple starts looking for a job just after they have had their first baby. Rather, before their baby is born, they would have prepared for the baby. Not only do they prepare for the hospital bill, they also prepare for what the baby will eat and the education of the child, and so on. They plan for the baby because they know that after nine months, the baby will be born.

Unfortunately the attitude of some Christians is: “Let’s eat and drink today, for tomorrow we die.” You should not be anxious about your needs being met; on the other hand you should plan ahead. A lot of Christians think planning is not faith. That is not right because God is a planner. He planned the whole world and what He was going to do ahead of time. By the time you showed up, He had done all He needed to do. He planned your salvation: before you ever showed up, Jesus died for you.

Some Christians wait until symptoms of sickness appear on their bodies before they begin to confess, “By His stripes I am healed.” If you have to wait for symptoms of sickness to appear on your body before you confess your healing, then when the symptoms of sickness appear on your body, most likely you will be confessing the Word of God out of desperation, and you will not be in faith. You must know that as long as the Devil is still on this earth, moving to and fro seeking whom he may devour, his mission is to steal, kill and destroy. Therefore you have to prepare ahead before the day of adversity.

Confession:
Father, thank You for foresightedness. I prepare myself with Your Word, Your wisdom and Your Spirit against the day of adversity. The day of adversity will not meet me unprepared.
