UNDERSTANDING SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENA

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:12-16

How do you understand supernatural phenomena? You understand it as your mind is being renewed by the Word of God. As you begin to do this, you grow in revelation knowledge and then you can follow God’s Spirit even more accurately because following God’s Spirit is supernatural. The supernatural is not something you can feel or see. The more you stay in the Word of God and under- stand the Word of God, the more you will know those things that are freely given to you. As this happens, you will discover that your references for all areas of your life are becoming super- natural as well. What God calls possible, you will call possible. What God calls evil, you will call evil. What God calls righteous, you will call righteous.

The Holy Spirit compares spiritual things with spiritual things. So if you are going to follow God or be guided by God, your reference has got to be spiritual. Your reference becomes spiritual not necessarily by how many years you have been born again, but by growing in the Word of God. It is by your natural mind getting renewed by the Word of God. Then, certain things God tells you to do will no longer be foolish to you. You will be able to follow Him easily. It tells me that for instance, a pastor whose mind is not renewed by the Word of God would be less successful following God than an usher in church whose mind is being renewed by the Word of God. It is simply supernatural.

Confession:
As my mind is constantly being renewed by the Word, I come to understand the supernatural progressively and follow God’s Spirit more accurately.
