Those Men Were Either Ritualists Or Kidnappers

My sister and I were coming back from my grandmother’s house and we were supposed to meet our mother in church, so we boarded a bus that would drop us at Location Junction because our direction was from Choba. Little did we know that we had joined a wrong bus. Before we boarded the bus, we asked the conductor if he had change and he said yes, so I and my sister, Geraldine entered the bus.

When we got in, we noticed that only men were inside the bus. The driver then diverted right and entered a lonely road filled with bushes. The men on the bus were just looking at us and whispering. When the bus stopped, a woman gave a man N1000 and said to him, “Remember how we go share the price.” As the man entered the bus, he was looking at us and he brought out a key and struck the bus four times with it and it made some noise and all the men nodded at him. My sister whispered to me that she was scared. She then asked me again why should she be scared since she has been listening to the Word of God in church, and words from our mother-In-Israel. Then she held my hand in a firm grip and told the conductor, “I want to drop.” He looked at her and did not say anything. She told him a second time with authority in her voice, “I want to stop,” and the man in front said to the driver, “Make we do carry these girls them go.” She said it a third time and the conductor replied, “You no dey go location again?’ and my sister replied him saying, “This is not the road to location.” The fourth time, my sister stood up in the bus and shouted, “I want to stop!” The conductor was blocking the door but when she was about shouting outside because they were a few shops and bushes around, he let go of her hand and said, “Oya give me money,” so she gave him N50. The driver stopped the bus and the men inside started talking about us and the conductor said his money was N150. My sister told him that it was not N150, she gave him the N50 and the man on the bus came down and was staring at us angrily. We alighted and had to trek back looking for an area from where we could go back to Location.

On the way, we met a man who we asked for directions and he said we should go back, that the road was a wrong road and then he asked us who brought us here. He said we should go back, and we quickly ran back. On the way, my sister and I started thanking God for saving our lives because those men were either ritualists or kidnappers.

We thank God for His Spirit who touched my sister and gave her the boldness and authority to speak out on time. We thank God for the prayers led by our mother in our family devotions. We also want to thank our dearly beloved mother-In-Israel, Pastor Nkechi Ene, our TCC Cub teachers and FOG leader. May the name of the Lord be praised, Amen.
