17 For if by the one mans offence death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17
God sees through every storm and every giant you may face and sees you as glorious and righteous. You are righteous in God’s eyes and therefore you reign. Most times we don’t see the good in anything. The moment we have signs and symptoms of sickness and disease in our body, we don’t see victory anymore. What is worse is when we immediately think: Maybe it’s because I didn’t pray this morning. Friend, the fact that you didn’t pray that morning, does not change the truth that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You pray to fellowship with God, you don’t pray to score “righteousness points.” You haven been made righteous and victorious: acknowledge these things. One way we can acknowledge who we are is by resisting condemnation and accusations, and by saying who the Word says we are, because that’s who we really are.
I remember a sister in our church that drew on her righteousness to gain victory over a sudden crisis. It was evening time on a particular Christmas Eve. She kept her baby who was eight months old at that time in the living room and entered the kitchen to pre- pare a meal. Shortly after that she heard her baby whimpering. She rushed out to carry the baby and the baby vomited the food she had just eaten. By this time she was rolling her eyes and was limp and weak in her mother’s arms. Immediately, the Spirit of God brought to the sister’s mind an image of an office pin that had fallen off from her Gele (Nigerian headgear) earlier that morning. Instantly, she put her finger in the baby’s throat to make her vomit but she did not vomit the pin. Almost simultaneously a thought bomb from the enemy ran across her mind saying, “She is going to die and you are not going to celebrate this Christmas.” Instantly she said out loud with boldness and authority, “Lord, please forgive me for my carelessness; my daughter is not going to die: she shall live.” Again, she put her finger in the baby’s throat and she vomited a bent office pin!
Confession:
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I resist every accusation of the enemy.
