11 Then she made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High.

Psalm 50:14

There is power in a vow. A vow is a faith promise. If you have the faith, you can do what Hannah did. Hannah had no children. She was even scorned and laughed at, but she made a faith promise: “Lord, if you give me a son, I will give him to you.” She did not have anything but she was consumed by a passion to give. If you have nothing to give, make a pledge or a faith promise and say, “Lord, if you give me five thousand Naira, I will give it to you.”

The beautiful thing about a faith promise is that it is God’s responsibility to provide the money. Your responsibility is to make a faith promise and wait in faith for the money. Look at how quickly God gave Hannah the son.

In the natural, if you have the ability to provide something and you know that it is going to be given right back to you, wouldn’t you give it quickly? The problem with some of us is that when the money comes, we are so excited that we race off quickly to spend it. It is better not to make a vow than to be unfaithful to your vow (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5).

You can break your poverty cycle by making a faith promise. When your vow brings a harvest, you give again and you keep building dwelling places for the living God. As you build these dwelling places, you move from one who does not have enough to one who has more than enough.

Father, I thank You for Your willingness to see me prosper financially and for the avenues You have made available for me to experience this. I will make use of the power of a faith promise realizing that it is Your responsibility to provide the money. As I do this, the cycle of poverty remains broken over me, in Jesus’ Name.
