17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”
18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
John 5:17-18
The word “working” in this verse means to be busy, to accomplish something. In effect, with respect to divine healing, Jesus was saying, “My Father accomplishes healing and I accomplish healing also.” Friend, look at the revelation there. He said, “My Father …” Jesus was conscious of His sonship. The Jews initially wanted to persecute Jesus because He broke the Sabbath. That was something they were very passionate about and it seems Jesus deliberately provoked their religious standing by continually performing miracles on the Sabbath day! Then, He took their attention off the Sabbath when He called God His Father. Now that really provoked them! They knew that when He indirectly said He was the Son of God, He made Himself equal to God.
A son and his father are one by nature – one is not a lower being than the other. By calling God His Father, Jesus was effectively saying, “I’ve got a relationship with God and it is because of this, that I am authorized to work, effect and operate the healing anointing.” If you live in the consciousness of your sonship you will know that you can do what God, your Father says you can do. You too can be bold to defy powerless religion and work, effect and operate the healing anointing ñ not just in your life, but in the life of others. Too many people consider the working of the healing power of God as something reserved for pastors alone. No! As long as you are born again, you are a child of God, God is your Father ñ you have the right to operate the healing power of God.
Confession:
I am a son of God. I do what my Father does. I work, effect and operate the healing power not only in my life, but in the life of others.
