THE EYES OF YOUR FAITH

15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

2 Kings 6:15-17

Why did the servant of Elisha shout “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He was afraid! Why was he afraid? It was because of what he saw! What did he see with? That sounds like a silly question. The answer is that he saw with his eyes. Well, here is another silly question: When Elisha prayed that his servant’s eyes be opened which eyes did he mean?

Obviously there are two sets of eyes being talked about here. One set saw the chariots in verse 15 and those set of eyes were obviously open. Those were his physical eyes positioned above his nose on his face. He obviously had seen with them and had responded based on what he saw with them. Then Elisha prayed a strange prayer asking God to open his servant’s eyes. His servant wasn’t blind. Elisha knew that there is a realm that is greater than the one his servant was operating in and the eyes used in that realm were obviously closed and needed to be opened. That realm is the supernatural and those eyes are spiritual. They are the eyes of faith. With those eyes opened, he knew his servant would see into that realm and behold a different picture.

May the Lord open the eyes of your faith today, that you may see a different picture. May you recognize that there are chariots all around you that belong to the Lord. May you realize that they that are with you are greater than they that are against you. Faith turns the tables and tells you that what you thought was real is false; and what you didn’t know existed is real. There is indeed a spiritual realm.

Confession:
Father, I pray that the eyes of my faith be opened to see a different picture and to understand that they that are with me are greater than they that are against me.
