THE CONSISTENCY AND STABILITY OF YOUR FAITH

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

James 1:6-8 (KJV)

The words “wavering” and “wavereth” from the Greek mean to withdraw from something, to separate thoroughly from something, to hesitate concerning something. If you are wavering it means that you are separating yourself from the Word of God that you once believed.

Faith is the substance, support or setting under of the thing you are hoping for. When you waver and sway from side to side, your faith is never realized. It is so easy to waver or to doubt. Many times you are wavering and doubting and you don’t even realize it. You may never know until you open your mouth and out comes doubt and unbelief. Faith does not believe on Sunday and then doubt on Monday or other days. Supernatural faith is stable and consistent. Faith believes, even when the eyes are yet to see.

Verse 7 is very weighty. It says if you waver in your faith, do not think that you will receive anything from the Lord. It means you will receive nothing. God is categorically saying that you will not receive anything. I want us to look at why a lot of us don’t seem to be getting anything in our Christian walk. We hear the Word, we say we are living by faith but we are not receiving anything. God says, “Don’t deceive yourself, if you are wavering, you will not receive anything.”

You may need a job. God knows you need it. You may need a baby. God knows you need it. However, your ability to receive what you need from God is not based on your initial state of belief, or on how “desperately” you feel you need it or on how you have been able to convince God that you need it. It is based on the consistency and the stability of your faith.

Confession:
I believe the Word of God every moment and every day of my life. God is consistent – the same yesterday, today and forever. I am like my Father. I am consistent and stable in my faith.
