Teach Faith to the Little Children

6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

9 Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things
your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life.
And teach them to your children and your grandchildren.
Deuteronomy 4:9

Teach the younger generation to build their faith now. Teach your children to believe God for little things, now. Don’t wait until they are all grown up and have been corrupted by religion and tradition.

Sometime ago, after hearing Kenneth Copeland say the same thing, my husband and I consciously decided never to say, “We can’t afford it,” to any request from our children. Does that mean they always get what they ask for? Certainly not! We just teach them to believe God for certain things. We teach them to sow seeds of faith and speak words of faith towards their desires. Their faith grows in leaps and bounds when they see God come through for them.

I remember once when my second daughter was about eight years old and she had symptoms of a high fever. We prayed with her, mopped her down, took communion with her to engage our covenant with God and we had peace about the matter. Before she slept I led her in some confessions of faith about her healing and told her to keep declaring, “By His stripes, I was healed,” until she slept. I then took a step of faith and told her to sleep in her room and not in our room. She did just that and we found out from an aunty who slept in her room that night, that three times my daughter spoke out in her sleep! Guess what she was saying over and over again? “By His stripes, I was healed!” Her inner man had engaged the Word of God. Praise God by the next morning, she was totally healed with all symptoms gone!

Confession: Lord, it is a privilege to be guardians over the children, protégés and wards You have given to me. I will train them according to Your Word and Your ways.
