Staying Alert in the Spirit Through Prayers Prevented Snake Bite on My Son

For two days I sensed this burden for a senior friend in Lagos particularly, after I woke up from a dream I had. In that dream, she looked worried about her son, so when I woke up I tried chatting with her. She said that all was well with her and thanked me for standing in the gap. I continued praying in the Spirit since I didn’t have peace and told her to pray along too.

My five year old son loves to sneak into my bed especially when my husband is not at home. I would usually tell his daddy about it on the phone most mornings when I wake up that I didn’t sleep well because his younger son sneaked into bed and discomforted me such that I did not enjoy my sleep. My husband would say I caused it by not locking my room door and I would reply that I do so for emergency reasons and for easy access if the children need to reach me.

At around 1:40 a.m. in the morning, he sneaked into my room with his flashlight and told me that he saw a black snake bringing out its tongue as he was about opening my door. I shunned him and discarded the thought and continued to pray in the Spirit since I didn’t know what to pray about.

Ten minutes later, I felt led to go get his older brother from his room to join us. As I opened the door, the snake was by the wall beside my room door. I was confused on what to do. I panicked and in the process the door tore my arm. I remembered Pastor Kech’s message that said we should act immediately, and I prayed for unusual boldness as I couldn’t allow the snake to escape. I reached for some of my husband’s shoes and started throwing them at the snake until I was able to incapacitate it and then I moved closer and killed it.

I thank God for preventing the snake from biting my younger son and keeping me alert in the spirit even when I did not know what I was praying about. I also thank Him that I did not ignore the witness to get up and check on my older son who would have come on his own on discovering that his younger brother was with me, being his usual action. It is indeed not a luxury to hear from God. Indeed He made us to tread upon the serpent. He is indeed our shield and buckler; a very present help in times of trouble.Hallelujah!!
