17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17
The Christian expression, “in the by and by” is very popular among religious believers. They put off all victories, triumphs, joyful days, healed bodies and everything good to a future time. They say these good things will only happen in heaven in the by and by. Does this verse say that we shall reign in heaven or in the world to come? No, it says we shall reign in life, that is, in this life. Revelation 1:6 tells us that Christ has made us kings. One of your benefits as a new creation is that you partake of Christ’s kingship. You have been made to rule and reign in this life and not when you get to heaven. There will be nothing to rule or reign over in heaven. It is right here on earth that circumstances, obstacles and situations should be subject to us and not vice versa.
Kings rule and reign by decrees. Ecclesiastes 8:4 in The Amplified Bible says, “For the word of a king is authority and power, and who can say to him, what are you doing?” A natural king doesn’t start crying if he is told that some rebels are in his kingdom trying to usurp his authority. Wouldn’t he look really ridiculous and weak if he sulks and cries out, “Can you see what these rebels want to do to me; is it fair?” No! A true king will never do that. He will simply issue a decree, “Arrest them immediately.” He won’t be seen; he will just pronounce the word and it will be carried out. That is the way it is meant to be with us as Christians.
We need to believe the Word of God and operate by faith. Unfortunately, many Christians today are more prone to operating in fear, believing superstition, religion and tradition. You are a king, and kings do not rule by superstition, religion and tradition. Kings are fearless and they rule and reign by making decrees!
Confession:
I am a king. I rule in this life by decrees.
