REAL FAITH MAKES CONTACT

43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’’

Luke 8:43-45

In your imagination, picture this crowd thronging or pressing against Jesus. This had been going on for a while. Then, immediately, in the midst of all that commotion, Jesus stopped and said, “Who touched me?” Nobody answered. What a dumb question, they must have thought, but would not dare utter it. Of course, it was the “big–mouthed” Peter who may have thought Jesus was losing His mind said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” Still, Jesus insisted that someone had “touched” Him, giving us an insight into how faith works. He is showing us that for faith to work there must be a contact.

Contact reminds me of an incident that happened to my older brother, Albert, when we were of primary school age. We were walking back from an evening session at school and strolled through a classroom where there was an exposed electrical wire at a spoilt socket. Albert went to play with it and he made contact! With electricity! It flung him half way across the room and he landed on his knees! In fear and panic he put his hands together in “prayer” and began to shout, “My Lord and My God!” repeatedly whilst turning around in circles on his knees! Now, that was contact.

Real faith will always make contact. This contact is not just a physical contact. A lot of people were pressing themselves on Jesus, but this one woman came and touched Jesus by faith and she made an instant connection. In the natural, Jesus didn’t even know that the woman had planned to touch Him. At the point when the woman touched Jesus, the will of Jesus was not even actively important. Healing was already pre-packaged in His will for mankind. It was the woman all by herself, who willed to touch Him, and she touched Him and she got healed.

Confession:
Real faith makes contact. My faith makes contact with the power, provisions and promises of God given to me in Christ Jesus.
