29 So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,
30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life.”

Mark 10:29-30

Jesus said that we would receive everything we gave up for His sake in hundredfold measure with persecution. Why persecution? The natural man (the unbeliever) and the carnal believer also, will always resist the prosperity of someone else. There will always be somebody, quick to persecute a prospering believer.

Imagine a brother who had nothing but a cordial relationship with his neighbours. Then he dares to receive prosperity from God and he buys a power generator, which he turns on whenever there is a power outage. His neighbours, who do not have generators, get jealous and begin to accuse him of “noise pollution.” When God blesses him with a car and he accidentally splashes some water on a pedestrian while driving, they say, “We said it; he is a wicked man.”

It has been said that insects are attracted to a light bulb shining in the midst of darkness. It is also said that the ripe fruits on a tree attract the stones! The picture is clear: persecution is part of the package! It is part of the package of prosperity.

So if God is not through with you yet, I’m telling you ahead of time so that when the persecutions come, you”ll just laugh. My best days have begun. Your best days have begun. Trust in God and not in gold and you will continue to reap a hundredfold return.

Thank God it all ends with a promise of eternal life. Our assurance is that we can live life as God has it. You can live in the realm of God, the realm where the impossible is made possible. You can have a hundredfold return plus eternal life.

Confession:
Father, I thank You for the promise of material prosperity and the hundred- fold return given to me in this life. I understand that as I prosper according to Your Word, it will attract persecution, the ploy of the enemy to stop me from prospering. I will not buckle under the pressure of the enemy; I will laugh and keep my eyes on You, the God of my prosperity. Hallelujah!
