My Promotion Is Now A Reality

For two years, I have been trusting God for promotion in my place of work. In fact, this became one of the prayer points I put down in January 2019.

I have been sitting in a particular job role for some years, but I was not promoted into the role. Early in the year when I was having my Goals and Performance discussion with my line and project managers, I mentioned to them the need for my progression into this new job role but was told that the project we were working on could not justify the new role. So, I decided to keep calm and continue with my work undeterred, knowing fully well that God will make all things beautiful in His time.

As the year progressed, we started some new projects, which by its nature will require this new position I have been trusting God for in my job role. I was the only candidate in the team. Naturally, I felt this would just be a stroll in the park for me. Contrary to my expectation, things just started turning sour between the Project Manager and me. It got to the point where he started contemplating whether I should even be promoted. This was happening in a year that I had worked so hard, even harder than any other year. It was at this point that it occurred to me that the devil was trying to play one of those his tricks. Then, these Scriptures immediately came to my mind:

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one and setteth up another
Psalm 75:6-7 KJV

Also
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James 1:17 KJV

Then, I became more resolute and confident in the fact that my promotion was a done deal because my promotion does not lie in the hands of any man but in the hands of God and God alone. My promotion is a good thing and it comes down from above and not from man. So, when I came home that day I called my wife and children and we prayed about it, trusting God that it will happen this year, even though we may not know-how, and that we will share the testimony. To cut the long story short, I stand here to testify that God has granted us the desire of our hearts and my promotion is now a reality.

I give all the glory to God, my Judge Who putteth down one and setteth up another (Psalm 75:7) and Who is the giver of good and perfect gifts (James 1:17). The Word, indeed, works and if you put all your trust in it, you can never be disappointed. Praise God.
