The last field job I did was so good that the client specifically requested that I be retained till the job was completed. The client backed up this request by paying a daily retainer fee on me till the end of the project. It was more than what my company charged them on me for the job. But my company found it difficult to agree to pay me the full rate, when I’m not working on the field. They questioned the rate but not the revenue coming in because of me. I think they had never experienced something like that, and were trying to fight it. My wife and I asked Pastor Nkechi Ene to agree with us that the full rate will be paid, and she did.
I discussed with my boss, and he said this was the first time they were experiencing such a case in Nigeria. I told him my expectations from the Company, and that anything short of a hundred percent payment would be injustice to me. After that meeting, I observed that my boss took up the matter personally in my favour. With much deliberations and consultations, my company finally decided to pay me the hundred percent field bonus rates daily, for the length of the retainer agreement. That meant that from Monday to Sunday, whether at work, home or in Church, I would be paid my full bonus rate aside my regular salary. We give God the glory and thank Pastor Nkechi Ene, the prophet God used to intervene in the matter.
