26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground,
27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.
28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.
29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
Mark 4:26-29
When you sow or plant seeds do you expect to reap one seed at the time of harvest? No, you expect what you planted to be greatly multiplied at harvest time. A seed has a multiplying effect. The Word of God has a multiplying effect also because it is a seed. Sow the seed in your heart today and it will multiply and produce what you desire during your harvest. This multiplying effect does not happen on every seed that exists; it only works on seed that is sown.
If a farmer has a bunch of seeds in his barn nothing happens until he goes to the farm and plants the seeds. Thereafter, the miracle of multiplication is set in motion. Just like the Scripture says, the sower does not know what exactly happens in that soil but all he knows is that when it is harvest time, the multiplying effect has occurred! Friend, my life is a case study of this multiplying effect. I was so poor that the poor called me poor. I was without much hope outside of Christ. I found Him and I discovered my bag of seeds in the Word of God. I started planting that seed day and night and look at me now! Just like the farmer in this parable, I do not know how exactly my life has turned around in these past decades, but I do know it had something to do with the seed that I planted.
Take God’s Word out of the printed page, out of the tape or CD or iPod and plant it in your heart. Let it out of your mouth at every opportunity and set the ball rolling in your life for a tremendous multiplying effect that brings about tremendous change to God’s glory!
Confession:
God’s Word is seed. I sow His Word into my heart and it comes back with a multiplied harvest of my desires.
