14 Just as many were astonished at you, so His visage was marred more than any man and His form more than the sons of men.
Isaiah 52:14
You may have watched or heard of the movie The Passion of the Christ. If you watch that movie you will not despise the grace of God. The movie could only reflect a fraction of the sacrifice of Christ and certainly not every aspect of the movie was scripturally accurate; however it was a step in the right direction for the secular movie industry. For me, the end of the movie was the most touching part. I have never seen such inhumanity in my life. To realize however, that the suffering Jesus went through was actually worse than what the movie was able to portray is even more touching. The Bible tells us that you couldn’t recognize Him. He was marred beyond recognition. That was the price He had to pay for what I have in Christ today. While I watched that movie I said to myself: There is no way I will allow or permit the Devil to mess with me anymore. I will not allow him to mess with my body, or mess with the bodies of my children, to mess with the bodies of my family members, I won’t allow him. It’s so sad when we allow the Devil to do it because Jesus has paid the price. It was a very high price.
When I saw the body of Jesus in that movie I thought of people who get sick from all kinds of diseases and have their bodies brutalized like His body, yet He was brutalized for them. What a waste! His body was brutalized for our healing: “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Why should you go through what He has already gone through for you? Why should you pay for something that has already been paid for?
Confession:
I will not allow the Devil to mess with me anymore. I won’t go through what Jesus has already gone through for me.
