10 Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Romans 13:10-12

There is a link between the verses before and after verse 11. When it says, “And do this…,” it means love your neighbour knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep. Therefore somebody who does not walk in love is somebody who is sleeping. Thus, if you don’t walk in love, you are defenceless. You are comparable to someone who is sleeping and you do not have a natural defence. One of the easiest ways to hurt or kill somebody is to come in when they are sleeping, because when someone is asleep their guards are down. However, if you walk in love, you are in the light: you have the armour of light (Romans 13:12). A shield is a defensive piece of armour; therefore we can say that love is your defence.

It is time to begin to walk in love. Extend the love of God you have received to someone else. That is the way to put on the armour of light. When you walk in love, you are in the light and your steps are sure. You don’t stumble, and you don’t fall. Some of us are stumbling and falling in God’s plan for our lives because we refuse to walk in love. We’re constantly in offence, begrudging people, and harming people with what we say. That is walking in darkness.

When you are in the darkness your eyes are blinded. When you are in the light your eyes are open and you can see. I am convinced that some of us have placed obstacles in the way to our miracles because we refused to walk in love. You are not walking in the light if nobody else matters to you but yourself. Why would you think it is impossible to forgive someone when the same blood of Jesus that washed you, also washed that person you have refused to forgive? Stop for a minute and think about where you are coming from. Think about all the things God has for- given you of. Think about all the people God has sent to you to love you in spite of yourself. Then make a decision to walk in the light.
