LOVE CAN CHANGE ANYBODY

16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:16

Sometimes our fears are caused by our prejudices about people and our past experiences. I have had to speak the Word of God and keep the Word in my focus, to keep my love walk alive. There are people I have spent months after months counseling, for many hours each session, and thus keeping late nights at work, while my family waited for me at home. I am an under-shepherd and do not serve God’s people for money, but isn’t it amazing that some of them never say “Thank you” with a card or a simple note? I do what I do because I am eager to see people get victory in their lives. I remember a sister I poured out myself into and literally gave out my whole being, to bring her out of the darkness and despair of her hopeless past and see her become who God had designed her to be. Few years later, she “spat in my face,” said evil things about me, and left the church. I felt very hurt. Soon after she did this, I had an appointment with another sister with a similar background. Do you think this is not a temptation of fear and walk out of love? Pastors are human beings; yes, we’re spirit beings, but we’ve got flesh and blood. When I saw the appointment form, my mind went to what transpired earlier, after so many years of love poured out into that other sister. I was tempted to cancel the appointment, or just deal with it in an aloof manner but I just took a step of faith and began to help this new sister with all of my being again. It’s so good to see that when you start you don’t know where the love comes from, but because the love of God is shed abroad in your heart, it begins to pour out again; the grace of God pushes it out. Before you know it, you are going down the same road again. Only this time, the sister had a lasting victory. Praise God!

The greatest thing that will help you overcome fear in your love walk is recognizing that love can change anybody. If somebody told some of you some years ago that you would be a Christian some years from that time, going to church, hearing the Word of God instead of going to nightclubs, you may have thought it was impossible. If God’s love changed you, love can change anybody. When you live and walk in the love of God, you live in a supernatural realm. You live in a realm of peace. You live in a realm of effortless victory. You live in the realm of an overcomer.

Confession:

I believe in the power of God’s love. I believe that the love of God can change anybody. I have seen it change people. It has changed me!
