Sometime in 2006, the heads of my department decided that they wanted everybody in the department: Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt offices, to sit in one location. They selected Lagos as the preferred location. The implication being that everybody in Warri and Port Harcourt would have to be transferred to Lagos. Subsequently, machineries were set in motion to make this happen. Personally, I did not look forward to the move, but I decided to allow God to have His way. I told Pastor Charles about the planned move to Lagos. Though it came to him as a surprise, he prayed with me, asking God to have His way and also encouraged me.
In July 2009, the department moved to Lagos and work commenced but I went to Lagos trusting God to bring me back to Port Harcourt. As an act of faith, I decided to get a temporary accommodation in Lagos. During my stay in Lagos, whenever my husband was asked about my absence from Port Harcourt, he would tell people that I was on a temporary assignment to Lagos. I also decided to take a position of rest and make the best of my stay there.
Early in 2010, after the yearly appraisal, my supervisor told me that my window was open, which meant I could apply for another job in the company in line with the company policy. I was really glad because that was going to set the stage for me to return to Port Harcourt. I then began to apply for jobs located in Port Harcourt. Jobs were usually posted in the company’s internal website and any staff could apply from any part of the organization.
I applied for the first job located in Port Harcourt but did not get it. I applied for a second job also located in Port Harcourt, which would have been a parallel move for me but I did not mind. Shortly after I posted my application on the web, I took a trip to Port Harcourt to take my younger son back to school. Something significant happened during that trip. We were running late and tried to get into the aircraft in a hurry. When we presented our boarding passes at the gate, the lady said to me, “Madam your ticket has been upgraded,” and she quickly reflected the change on my boarding pass. I was pleasantly surprised and I marched in majestically into the aircraft. While in the aircraft, I got to know that the second job had been offered to someone else. I began to wonder what happened because I had thought it would be a walkover for me. Right there, the Spirit of God said to me, “Do not settle for less.” I agreed immediately and said, “Father, I take the unexpected upgrade of my ticket as a prophetic declaration of the pleasant surprise you are packaging for me regarding my new job and my return to Port Harcourt.” In the course of applying for these jobs, I started listening to Pastor Charles’ message tilted, “Waves of favour.” I played those CDs at home and at work until I almost wore them out and could almost preach the entire message.
On the 1st of November 2010, I sent in my CV for the third job in Port Harcourt. This job was higher and in a completely different area. The Devil told me that I would not get the job because I was coming from a different area. After listening to Pastor’s message, I put my trust in the Word of God and expected God’s favour to take over. There was a long silence and nobody said anything to me. I tried to make inquiries but received some negative feedback. At that point, I decided to trust God and I continued to listen to those messages.
Sometime in December 2010, I got an email from Human Resource Department, offering me the job in Port Harcourt. My joy knew no bounds. Within a short time, the whole process was completed and I was back to Port Harcourt in February 2011.
I am now in a new department doing a different job. I like my new job and I am settling down fast with the support of my team members. I thank God for His faithfulness and for delivering me from the stressful Port Harcourt to Lagos flights and for delivering my pocket from the hands of the airlines. To Him be all the glory.
I thank God for my beloved Pastor Charles and Pastor Nkechi for their love, support and encouragement during my sojourn in Lagos. I also thank God for the brethren who went into intercession to retrieve me from Lagos. Praise God!
