Late last year, I started thanking God for another car because the car I was using then was becoming expensive to maintain. I was always at the mechanic spending time and money on monthly basis. One evening in January 2011, on my way home from work, I received a call asking me to go over to my Deputy General Manager’s brother’s house, as a surprise party was being organized there for my DGM. This was at about 6:30 p.m., so I called my husband and informed him. He said it was okay but asked me not to stay too late.
We all got there and she also arrived not having any idea what was going on. At a point we were all asked to go outside the house. As I was stepping out, the Holy Spirit asked me to ask my boss for her car. It came as a shock to me, so I asked, “What car?” When He [Holy Spirit] insisted, I agreed to talk with her.
We went outside, and they opened the package, revealing a brand new 2011 model car as a gift for my DGM. Again the Holy Spirit said, “Ask her for her car.” As I was still contemplating the possibility of such an order from God, I was called upon to pray. After praying, we were all shouting and rejoicing but again The Holy Spirit prompted me: “Ask your boss to give you her car.” At that point, I went and said to her, “Give me your car.” She said “Oh, I just gave my car to my sister-in-law.” I said, “Then give me your sister-in-law’s car,” to which she said, “Okay.” I left and said, “Father as you instructed, so have I done.” After about twenty minutes, I left and went home.
The most remarkable thing about it was that as I was driving to the office the following morning, I started considering how much my boss would sell the car to me. I said well, “Because she knows my salary, she might sell it for two hundred thousand naira.” As soon as I walked into her office that morning, she said: “Hope, you asked me for my car!” I answered in the affirmative and she said, “Let me tell you, that car is not a two hundred thousand naira car.” Immediately, I said to myself, “Lord, I am sorry for negotiating on your behalf.” When there was no further comment from her, I went back to my office.
A little over a week later, she called me and said I could have the car but that she had to ensure that the car was in good condition before handing it over to me. The change of name, insurance and fixing of air conditioner were done and I got my car free of charge. Alongside, I was given a mechanic who would be servicing the car whenever it was due. Indeed this year is my year of accelerated bumper harvests.
