I Give God Praise For We Were Shaken But We Have Stood

From December 2010 to October 2011, my husband did not have a job. However, God’s Word through Pastor Charles that, “There will be no smell of smoke” was evident in our lives. On some occasions people would meet my husband and give him their CV’s to help in getting them jobs. He usually would say to me, “Purple, don’t worry, I will soon be making job opportunities available for people.”

Shortly before we got married, my husband told me that he had just begun to experience some health challenges, which could affect our sex life as a couple. However, we decided to believe God and we went ahead and got married. We began breaking bread and praying in other tongues as often as we could after we got married. When we could not have sex because of the health challenge, we broke bread regularly thanking God for normalcy in that area of our marriage. My first testimony is that despite the challenge, I got pregnant and had my beautiful baby girl after which our sex life has been fully restored.

All through my pregnancy, God was faithful and I didn’t have any complications, someone took care of the hospital bills and my delivery was a manifestation of God’s presence with us. God beautifully clothed our daughter, Zina with lovely designer clothes. Until now, I have not bought any clothing for her. People keep giving her clothes, shoes and money. A good number of times, we were down to tens of Naira but God kept us.

One day, a sister in church asked me where I buy Zina’s clothes. I told her I didn’t know where or how much they sell children’s clothes. I thank God especially for my husband who maximized every opportunity to serve and sow seeds. He made himself available in church to do what so ever was needed to be done. During this period, we increased our tithe and offering percentages. This was one huge step of faith because after we gave our tithe and offering on every amount we received, there would be practically nothing left. However, we knew that God was up to something great and indeed He was. We kept confessing who we are in Christ, and I always called my husband, “My successful man, who will give me more money than I can spend.” My husband made a conscious effort to keep saying out loud that his job was around and it will be one that will cause people to marvel. We knew that even after the manifestation of his job, the quality of life we would have would be far more than that which our salaries could afford. God had done it before; we had received a brand new car when we had nothing, and so this was not going to be different.

God used a divine connection in church and miraculously my husband got a very good job. The process of getting the job is a whole testimony on its own. The summary of it is that, God bypassed every process for him. God showed him favour and he was preferred to others who stood in the same position as he did. God has given him wisdom on his job and his work has always been graded as excellent. God has opened doors for him and indeed great wealth has come and is still coming to our home. He is having a good time at work and I am eternally grateful to God for that and I know that this is only the beginning.

While we were expecting my husband’s employment letter, I said to him excitedly one night, “Dear, very soon meat will no longer be a luxury in my pot,” and we both laughed about it. It has come to pass. The night before my husband was due to travel on his first official trip, we had counted out 90 Naira to buy three rolls of bread for breakfast the next morning, and 130 Naira to buy a packet of Spaghetti to eat with the last stew in the house for lunch and the rest was in God’s hands. God in His awesomeness moved the trip forward and my husband received a call that morning to handle a three-day training programme in Lagos that paid him more than his monthly salary was to be. He was paid half of the training money upfront and just before he left, we were shopping like people who had long planned a shopping spree. My husband had to literarily expand my mind to see that buying that much was not a waste.

Looking at my ever-smiling Zina, I know that God is more than able to take care of her with or without a job. Zina has enjoyed the best of life even through the tough times in our lives, and her life can only get better.

I thank God for Pastor Charles and Pastor Nkechi whose words kept us from going under. I give God praise for we were shaken but we have stood, and will yet rise high above every storm.
