I ask myself, “Na me be dis?”

Late last year we had an exit from my place of work of a management staff in our region, and a plan to exit by another. This brought about a restructuring of roles within my department. To give a background, the region in which I work comprised of a team of five management staff in my department; a regional manager and four sub-regional/ country managers of which I was one. After the exit started earlier, a new organogram was communicated to our workforce on the December 30, 2014, and our region was split in two with two managerial staff to manage the sub regions. This new development increased my coverage area as I was listed among the two people chosen. This new development had no impact on my contract, but I embraced the new responsibility whole-heartedly and gave it my best shot.

Three months later, our department's regional manager dropped his resignation letter, and April 6, 2015 I was chosen by top management to act in his place. This was a very large shoe for me to fit into, but God gave me unusual favour, grace and strength to carry out all my responsibilities. Within the same period, the only other manager whom I worked with in the region also resigned, and I was left alone as the only managerial staff in my department within our region.

I faced multiple challenges all around the region, and different things, all demanding my full attention, kept happening at the same time ranging from contractor incidents, several mobilizations into different countries, security issues, and so on; as a result most times I worked round the clock. God's favour and wisdom on my life within this period was simply beautiful as God enabled me to be a solution provider to most of the challenges we faced, and my field team really supported me and worked with good team spirit as they took ownership of the tasks I delegated to them.

In June this year, I was invited for a leadership meeting at our headquarters overseas with our global leader and other regional leaders. In these meetings my colleagues just kept on affirming me for the work I was doing in my region. They also asked series of questions on how I managed the challenges I faced. In a session headed by our company CEO, CFO and our global departmental head, I was called out and presented with a Gold award of a “One of a kind performance,” by our CEO. Within these leadership meetings, details of the new structure to be implemented in the region where I was based were shared with me, and I was advised on the roll out plan. On July 1, 2015, a new structure was implemented with our region merged with another region, and a regional role within this new structure was confirmed for me. I was made to report directly to the regional manager covering the merged region.

This role came with an updated contract and to crown it all, God redeemed my time as I received a compensation for the time I served without an updated contract. I believe God has taken my case personally as I have currently not worked up to four years in my company, and God has moved me up with an unusual speed to a position that would normally take a good number of years to get to. I got into this company on October 20, 2011, and I grew from a field level contract role to a regional managerial staff role in 2015, occupying six roles since then. It has really been an overwhelming growth experience for me and there were a couple of trips I embarked on where I would literally ask myself: “Na me be dis?”

I want to thank my wonderful pastors because they have really been a blessing to me. I remember clearly that while I was serving as a volunteer driver for Pastor Kech when I had no job for a couple of months. A good number of times she prophesied about how I would choose my job, experience unusual favour and unusual speed. I also want to appreciate my beautiful wife, my family and the special friends God placed along my destiny route.

I thank God for His favour upon my life, and I do not take His blessing upon my life lightly. I know His grace is sufficient for me and He has given me what it takes to handle my current role with wisdom and excellence. I am seeing the manifestation of prophecies made upon my life and that of my family, and I am convinced that this is just the beginning.

Praise God!
