He Showed Me Unmerited Favour

Life became unpleasant when I got into the university to study a course I didn’t like. But when I had an extra year, I knew I needed a change in my life. Instead of turning to God, I resorted to having an affair with an old, married man who had two wives, an ex-wife and two concubines with children for him. This man made me feel useless. I worked for him without pay and he promised to marry me. He gave me money for my extra semester and I graduated with a pass. It was at this point I found God. I listened to Pastor Nkechi on Freshdew, came to church and gave my life to Christ in March that year. Though I wanted to walk away from the relationship, the Devil kept telling me that I would not get a job because I wasn’t smart enough. When I became a member of the church, the man got scared and said he won’t pay for my Post Graduate Diploma Program. I didn’t know how God would help me because I had not yet learnt to trust Him.

I left home to live with an old schoolmate, carried my sewing machine and started sewing and selling clothes for one year. In the process, I learnt to depend on God. Suddenly, I was not worried about anything anymore. I began to look healthy and happy. I built confidence in myself because I believed that God would supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. I was ready to work just to get the experience, even if I was not going to be paid. I developed a heart of service to God and man.

While believing God for a job, I got a call from a multi-national company, though I didn’t submit my CV there. I was called to an interview for a job position I knew nothing about, but I knew in my heart that the job was mine. I was the only one who went for the interview and I was told to go and negotiate my salary!

It was after I started working that I found out that when my CV got to them, it was removed because they thought I was not qualified and not an indigene of the state. But when the Personnel Manager took all the CVs to the interviewer, who now happens to be my manager, he mistakenly took my CV which was lying on his desk, with the other candidates’ CVs. He looked at theirs and threw them away, but picked mine. It then dawned on me that this was the handiwork of God. He showed me mercy and unmerited favour. After three months, my salary was increased.
