The Word of God is living and it works. In 2017, a week into my 10th birthday, which was in May, my health was challenged. So, for two weeks plus, I stayed at home. My mum bought medications since the test we ran showed it was malaria. That was when I realized that there was a pattern because I heard my mum say, “Father, I want this pattern to stop, we don’t want to spend money on medications anymore”. In her usual way, she was worried, and I could see fear written all over her face.
Since we joined The Carpenter’s Church, it became clear to me what church meant. Before it was just a routine I was forced to do. I began to understand the Word of God, but something was missing; I had not given my life to Jesus. So, on Thursday, the 27th of July 2017, I told my mum that I wanted to give my life to Christ and on that day, I surrendered all to Jesus with Pastor Chuks leading me. I knew that in the physical, nothing happened but I felt so much courage building up in my spirit and speaking in other tongues was something I did always even in school. God’s Word became clearer to me because I had the Holy Spirit there to teach me.
While in school, my spirit kept on saying, “Ephesians 3:20”. This was new but then I remembered Pastor Nkechi would say, “It is not a luxury to hear from God”, so I picked up my Bible and opened the passage and it reads: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. God can do anything you know, far more than you could imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams. He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us. His Spirit is deeply and gently within us. It was clear, I didn’t need any other explanation. That day, I asked my heavenly Father in prayer for two things: that He take away fear from my mum concerning my health, and that the so-called “pattern” ends now. Then, and I thanked God, knowing that He hears me always and answers me always.
2018 came and we started breaking bread at home. Ephesians 3:20 was always a reminder to me that God can do anything for me. It seemed like the pattern wanted to control my body that year, so I spoke to my body saying, “The Spirit of God dwells in this body and I have dominion over every situation. So, in the name of Jesus Christ, I curse you from the root to dry up and never show up again”. I got ready for school and my mum said I should stay back home at least for a day and I told her, “This is me putting my faith into action”. I kept on declaring God’s Word over my life and I believed I was healed because when you pray, don’t doubt, just believe you have received. That night, I woke up to the sound of my mum snoring by my side; she was sound asleep. God had answered my prayers, my mum had found peace.
In 2019, I turned 12. Two days before the celebration of my birthday, my mum sent me to an aunt’s place. This was something she wouldn’t do. It was four months after May, my birth month that we realized that my healing had manifested. Even when I get bruised, the healing process is swift: nothing missing nothing broken.
When we confess God’s Word, it might seem like nothing is happening in the physical, but a whole lot happens in the spiritual realm that will bring about manifestations for us. Our life depends on God’s Word.
I want to thank the TC Cubs teachers who take their time teaching us. I also want to thank my mother-in-Israel, I love you Pastor Nkechi Ene for the undiluted Word I hear you teach. May your oil always remain fresh.
The Word of God indeed works.
