I want to testify of God’s goodness, faithfulness and love to my family, especially in the life of my daughter Chidera. I would normally pick her from school by myself. In fact, I am so particular about being the one to pick her that my cousins who live with us would tease me sometimes saying: “If you were working in the bank, would you insist on being the one to pick her from school always?” It’s so serious that I would rather pick her late than send someone else.
On the 3rd of November 2014, I had a lot to attend to at home and the younger of the two ladies that live with us offered to pick her as she helps me pick her on some occasions when I can’t just be there myself. I gladly accepted warning her to ensure she backs her as soon as they alight from the cab that drops them off at the junction to our street.
She didn’t do as I instructed her but was walking her, holding her by the hand; it was a minor road though. Her lunch box fell off from my cousin’s hand and in an attempt to pick the lunch box she left my little daughter’s hand who then ran into an oncoming Mercedes Benz 190 which knocked her down. She was afterwards pulled out from under the car by good Nigerians who were passing by. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by the driver in the company of another man. She was given first aid treatment and thereafter referred to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital Accident and Emergency Unit. As usual, due to protocol, no proper attention was given to her until the next day when we were admitted in the orthopedic ward after proper examination of the result of the x-ray we took.
We kept speaking God’s Word over her. You can imagine how tender and fragile a girl of three years could be for a car to run over her and yet there were no fractures anywhere. It could have only been God and a miracle considering the depth of the cut on her hand.
Indeed this local assembly is amazing! Calls kept flooding in our phones both from pastors and brethren who heard about it, though we didn’t know how they did. Prayers and declaration of God’s Word kept pouring out from each one of them over her.
Our mother in Israel called that same night and instructed my husband and I to lay our hands on her and she spoke God’s Word over her that her recovery shall be supernatural and there shall be no smell of smoke and we held onto those words, even when the doctors started talking about skin grafting, those words from our man of God was our anchor, that there shall be no smell of smoke.
Prior to the day of this accident, I had a terrible nightmare where I lost someone very precious and people were sympathizing with me when I became conscious that I shouldn’t accept sympathy and condolence, I got up and started praying, rejecting all the sympathizers and I had my peace having prayed in other tongues for some time about the matter.
We were taking care of the bill ourselves not having heard from the driver after the first day. One day after our baby had been discharged the driver called my husband and brought a reasonable amount to help in the payment of the bills. However we were led to sow the money as a seed in thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness. Indeed when we heard about the testimony service, we said we must testify of God’s faithfulness over our little daughter. I later got a thought bomb saying are you sure you have got the victory? I quickly declared “Affliction shall not rise the second time.”
Then on the 12th of December 2014, I was cooking at home for a friend who needed the food for her occasion, I ran out of palm oil, so I sent my girl to go and buy me some. I took my children Chidera and Chimkamso to the kitchen lobby where I could have my eyes on them while I did my chores. At intervals, she would run into her aunt’s room which was close to the lobby where they were, and once she was out of sight, I will call her to come back because I needed to be seeing her. She had not resumed school after the accident. We were still going for routine check and dressing at the hospital. At some point when I called out to her to come out of the room she told me that she had sprayed something into her mouth. When I asked what it was, she showed me a deep heat spray which is highly mentholated used by my cousin for the treatment of the fracture she had on her leg. I was like “when” because I never allowed her out of my sight for long. I quickly picked a hand towel soaked it in water and started cleaning her mouth with it. Afterwards, I took the palm oil container which of course was empty, got a little oil out of it and made her drink it. I started declaring over her that even if that substance was poisonous, it will not harm her. I was still watching her though in panic, suddenly she started behaving strangely. I called her name but she could not respond. Suddenly, she started passing out, her eyes had turned and there was no other person in the compound apart from myself and the two children. My husband had left for work; I could only remember to call on my God and my Father whose I am.
I started declaring God’s Word over my daughter in aggression because at this point I felt like strangling the Devil with my bare hands. I quoted scriptures and declared as much of God’s Word as I could. I blasted in other tongues at the same time to the point that the neighbour in the next compound who was about to go for school runs ran down to our gate and started banging on it. I opened for her still speaking over my daughter who had at this point regained consciousness and had started responding amen to the prayers I was saying. Immediately I saw that she was conscious, I engaged her in a faith confession which she kept responding to, to the amazement of the neighbour. I had already called my husband who had left for work and he came back almost immediately. As I narrated the story to the neighbour, I also mentioned to her that I had given her a teaspoon of oil, she ran into her house and brought 10 litters of palm oil and we gave my daughter some more oil to drink.
God indeed is a faithful God. The enemy is always late because our God is always steps ahead of him. Our biggest surprise was because growing up as a much younger child, our daughter never picked anything and put in her mouth even while she was still crawling, and even alerts any one around each time her younger brother picks anything and tries to put it in his mouth. My husband kept saying this is strange because it was really strange with Chidera but the enemy failed concerning this daughter of God even before he started.
The best gift in life is first to know and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Next to this is to belong to our kind of local assembly where God’s Word is taught precept upon precept and line upon line, which have made it possible for us to understand who we are in Christ through the seasoned ministers and teachers of the Word.
I want to reassure everyone here that in case you are beginning to doubt that God’s Word works just declare the Word and believe it. He always comes through.
