God showed me love

When I wanted to go to the university, my father said there was no money and he advised me to get married. Unfortunately, that became the only option I had and so I did. After a while, the marriage I went into threw me into a land of storm. At this point, I was told that I was “too old” to go to school and this became a major issue to me. Later on, I got born-again and started attending services at The Carpenter’s Church (then Royal Evangel Church). In one of our teaching services, a visiting minister, Pastor Soska Forbes said, “If you were disappointed in the past by your father, and you are still dwelling on that disappointment, it is no longer your father that has disappointed you; you have disappointed yourself.” That word was for me. It gave me a fresh start and the courage to buy the application form for an academic programme. However, I needed to pay some money to get into the Department of my choice, but because I did not have it, and so the whole process came to a halt.

One day, while praying about the issue, God instructed me to go back to the school. On my way, I said to myself, “The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness. He made everything and has kept the school officials there to work in my favour.” I decreed that I would go to school that year.

On getting there, I realized that the Head of Department and I were from the same town. We communicated in our dialect and that made the whole process very smooth for me. He transferred my file easily to his Department and asked me to resume lectures immediately. At this point, I had another major challenge. There was no money for my school fees. Through this whole period, the Word kept coming to me and I received strength and courage to believe God. By God’s grace and favour, through the high sense of family practiced in the Family Outreach Group of the church, different people gave me money and this helped in paying my school fees, buying my books and catering for my personal upkeep until I graduated.

God put me in the hands of “Shunamite people” who catered for my needs. I thank God who has shown me love and has given me a fresh start.

Praise God.
