God Saved My Life and Delivered Me from the Spirit of Fear

I was on my way out of a bakery a few months ago between 7.30p.m. and 8.00pm, when I saw two men coming out from a street in front of me. I noticed that the one in front held a gun pointed at me and both of them were fast approaching my car. I couldn’t turn around because the road was very bumpy, so I stopped the car and waited. The man behind tapped the one in front and he turned, at that instant I jumped out from the car and started running back towards where I drove from. I heard a shot and felt a chill on my leg, yet I did not turn to look behind or stop, but just kept running until I got back to the bakery.

The policemen on guard at the bakery scanned the area but saw no one and returned with my car. My leg was bleeding at this point, so one of them volunteered to take me to the hospital but the wound couldn’t be tended because it was a gunshot wound and would require a police report. The policeman volunteered to take me to another hospital but I declined due to the neglect of accident victims there. He got a band to tie up my leg to stop the flow of blood. I finally called the state emergency service and narrated to them what happened and what the hospital required for the treatment. They came in no time, got the police report for me and took me to the hospital where I was taken care of.

To the glory of God, there was no bone fracture but four holes and pellets were seen after the x-ray was done. The nurses attended to me and allowed my cousin take me home. Treatment was done for free. I returned to the bakery after a week and was told that one of the robbers had agreed to “waste” whoever was in the car, but his colleague had begged him not to. They had earlier robbed a house in the vicinity and the landlord was able to shoot one of them dead.

After the robbery case, I became scared of guns. Whenever I drove past a roadblock or security personnel holding a gun, I would think there could be an accidental discharge toward me.

While reading the devotional: Gems Of Grace, for the 2nd of March titled, “A More sure Word of Prophecy,” Pastor Charles quoted Psalm 91:1. I finished the text and repeated it a few times, reading it out to myself and the fear disappeared. Presently I don’t care about whoever is around me with a weapon because I abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I want to thank Pastors Charles and Nkechi for being the prophets God has used to preserve me according to His Word in Hosea 12:13.
