On the 11th of October 2011, I got a fixed term contract with my present company after about ten months without a job. Getting the job was a miracle as the circumstances surrounding how I got the job was divinely orchestrated by God. I did not just get any job, I got a job that I cherished because I enjoyed what I was doing, it was related to my field of study and I got a very supportive boss who I consider as my mentor. As the job progressed God showed me so much favour with my employers and the customers we worked for in virtually all the field locations where we executed projects. I got several recommendations from these customers and it was as if everything I laid my hand on turned to ‘gold’ because the recommendations just kept on coming. I really do not think I got all of these recommendations because I was too sharp but I know that they came because God’s favour is upon my life.
In a particular field location outside the country that was considered tough because there were recent cases of recordable incidents and fatalities, I got an award from the customers after my first job there. It happened that two management staff from our mother company visited the site when the award was presented to me. It was as if the people on that site just fell in love with me because they just kept on talking about me, and affirming every little thing I did to their management and mine. The award I got was highly celebrated as several congratulatory emails were sent to me, emails concerning the award were sent to top management and the award was also featured in our company newsletter.
On the 1st of August 2012, my contract was renewed with a salary increase and my role was changed to something better. A few days later, on the 7th of August to be precise, I got a mail from our country Service Manager saying that they were still in the process of reviewing my contract. For me, that mail was surprising because I had already signed and sent back the renewed contract to HR. He wrote a lot about how the management was proud of the work I was doing and he encouraged me to sustain the tempo. On the 8th of August the following day, I got another contract letter that was better than what was sent earlier as my salary was reviewed again and it was also backdated to the 1st of August 2012.
A few months ago, I was recommended for a managerial role in the company. Not long from that recommendation, during choir rehearsals, I got a mail that made me speechless for some seconds. The mail was an offer given to me for a managerial staff position in my company. I accepted the offer gladly and I am now working in that capacity.
Everything happened so fast and it was as if God was in a hurry to bless me. I have currently not worked up to two years in my company and God has shot me up to a position that would normally take a good number of years to get to. I really thank God for His favour upon my life and I do not take His blessing upon my life lightly. I know that He has given me the enablement and there is sufficient grace to handle my new role with wisdom and excellence.
I also want to use this medium to also thank my wonderful pastors because they have really been a blessing to me. Their invaluable words of encouragement have kept me going.
After I left school, for many months all I did was make myself available as a volunteer driver for Pastor Kech who I call my Mom. I would take her places and do her school run many times for her. I didn’t want to be idle and brood over not having a job, I just wanted to serve. Not only did my service give me close access to her, I see now that it was a great opportunity to sow seed when I had no job and no money into the life of my Man of God, and God has only just begun to bless me with great harvests as I continue to sow still in making myself available when I can and in other ways too.
