In January 2009, I was totally confused in my life, I did not know what to do or where to turn to, but one Sunday, I decided to go to Church: any Church at all. I got into a bus not knowing which Church to attend but as the bus was going on, I saw a few people coming into TCC, so I asked the bus to drop me and I also came in. When I came in, the Church was still very empty as people were yet to come. I sat at a corner and watched all that was going on as more people started coming. That day Pastor Nkechi preached on The Benefits of Our Redemption. I then realized that there are benefits in being a child of God. Before this time I never knew, since no one had ever shown me love or any favour at all. Not even my own parents could do anything for me. As Pastor was preaching that day, she was “calling my name” and I said, “Udosen, this woman is talking to you because everything she is saying is about you.”
She kept repeating that there are benefits for a child of God. That day, I made up my mind that I was going to give my life to Christ so I could enjoy those benefits.
She likened those benefits to someone who works in a company, and the company gives the person an official car, accommodation and other benefits. He could drive the car to work any time he wanted. She said some people live their lives but forget to appropriate their benefits. With that, I made up my mind that I would not forget my own benefits. So I came out and gave my life to Christ.
Since that day my life has changed. I feel loved in every way in my Family Outreach Group. Today, I am totally changed because of the love of Jesus. I am happy that I have this opportunity to serve God at this young age. I know if my father had known what I know today my life would not have been the way it was before now. That is why I know that my children are blessed because they will not have to go through what I went through. Knowing that my children will follow my footsteps makes me very happy.
Before this time, I had lost so much. After my apprenticeship, my master promised to set me up but he did not. I rented a shop and when the rent expired I went back to him for assistance as he had promised but he kept telling me to come back and whenever I went back, he would tell me to come tomorrow. It went on like that until I got born again last year. When I got born again, I started the Believers’ Classes and each day after service I would look forward to FOG meeting because there, people love me. There is love in this place.
When my rent expired I did not know what to do as the shop was partly demolished because of the road project. I went to my FOG leader and he gave me a shop key and said I could use that place. I could not believe it so I did not go there. When I met him later he asked me if I had started using the place and I said no and he asked me to go ahead and use the place for my shop. I am talking about the benefits of God.
God has been good to me and I now have people who love me. I have mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters in this place. I now have people I can call my friends. There is love in this place.
I used to experience a form of movement or a sensation in the middle of my head. It would feel as though something was moving on my head but after The Carpenter’s Table, Pastor said, “If you have any problem in any part of your body, lay your hands on it” and I laid my hands on it and she prayed and it was as if something actually moved out of my head. At that point it was as if I was going to fall down but since that day that thing has not moved in my head again. I was healed just like that.
The Lord is good. Hallelujah.
