God Delivered Me from Making a Wrong Decision

I want to thank God for delivering me from an awful decision I almost made. Some years ago, I decided not to go for formal Industrial Training (IT), because I felt it would stop me from doing some other things I wanted to do with my time. I made that decision and stuck to it.

Sometime later, a classmate told me that a particular organization needed somebody to fill a position, which was to be like an IT. He said they needed somebody that could handle it whether or not the person was on IT. I still felt it would hinder the things I wanted to do but the guy encouraged me to consider it. He said the offer was good, and that it would give me access to a lot of information, which I was into. Reluctantly though, I got there at about 10:00 a.m. and spoke to the man who was in charge. He explained that the person who was handling the job previously had some family responsibilities to attend to and would no longer be available. Later, I spoke to God about it, and I accepted the offer and started work on the 9th of May that year.

The first month was very hectic. Imagine an organization where everybody knew so much about computers, yet I was going from one office to the other to work on their systems. I couldn’t do any of the things I wanted to do because of the work, but I held on. There was so much temptation to be unfaithful or fraudulent but something I had heard in TCC was that if you desired increase in your own business, you had to be faithful in another man’s business. Pastor Charles always taught us that. Whenever I was tempted, that word would come to me and it kept me going.

Along the line, things turned out the way I wanted. I had time to do my own things. I was designing softwares and I was doing well in it. I even considered staying on the job while going to school, if my boss would permit me.

After some consideration, I turned in a formal application for the job at the same time my colleague turned in his resignation letter. When my boss got my letter, he called and told me he just received a resignation letter from my colleague. He asked me not to leave even while going to school and that apart from paying me, he would make sure anything I needed was made available to me. He asked me to keep coming whenever I had time from school. To me, that was even better than I had thought. I didn’t envisage still being paid, I mainly was interested in the resources I would have available to me for my school.

While there, I learnt things I wouldn’t have ventured into in Information Technology. God exposed me to areas I had considered “no go” areas for me. As I look back, I thank God because even though I thought I needed time for my own things, God knew what was ahead and prepared me for it. He knew I needed stable electricity supply because I did not have a generator.

God delivered me from making a wrong decision. He took me to a place where I was being paid for doing my own thing and rendering little services to them. I thank God for that great deliverance.
