10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

Fear doesn’t come from God. The first mention of fear in the Bible was during the first encounter between humanity and the Devil (Genesis 3:9-14). God has not given us the spirit of fear.

When God asked Adam where he was, Adam said he was afraid because he was naked (Genesis 3:10). If you stop there it looks like he really had a good reason for his fear. Adam had disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit and instead of owning up, he found a justification. However, when God began to question him, He went further down to the root of that fear, and He found the serpent, the Devil. The Bible also says that every good and every perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). Fear does not come from God. Your attitude to anything should be: If God didn’t give it to me, then it came from the Devil. So I will not in any way entertain it.

At the root of all forms and manifestations of fear you will find the Devil lurking. Fear is from the pit of hell and you must recognise it as such and never entertain it in any kind of way, or for whatever reason. There will always seem to be a justifiable reason for fear. Reasons people give for being afraid go like this: “I was afraid because there was an epidemic in town.” Or, “I was afraid because there were robbers in my neighbourhood.” Here’s another: “39 years is a long time to wait, to marry a Christian, so I married just anybody, because I was afraid.” When you understand that fear is not from God, you will not entertain it no matter how justifiable the reason seems.

Recognize that the sole purpose of fear is to steal from you, to kill and destroy you. That is not God’s best for you.

Fear does not come from God. God has not given me the spirit of fear, so I will not entertain any form or manifestations of fear.
