14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Romans 1:16 (KJV)
The word “vain” means empty. Paul is saying if Christ is not raised our preaching is devoid of success, profitless, useless, has no results. He also says that our faith is vain if Christ is not risen. Therefore I can say that, “Since Christ is raised, my faith is not in vain. My faith has success. My faith has profit. My faith has increase. My faith is useful.” You too can say the same.
Romans 1:16 says the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. The word “power” is the Greek word dunamis which means the miracle working power of God. Salvation is not just salvation from your sins. Salvation is deliverance, safety, direction, healing and health. Salvation is the whole package. It is the whole abundant life of God.
The dunamis power of God is the power of God that will change your situation around completely. The arm of the Lord is revealed to the one who has believed the report of the Lord (Isaiah 53:1). When Jesus healed people, He often made the statement, “…Your faith has made you well” (Mark 5:34; 10:52). He didn’t say the power of God made you whole, though it was the power of God. Why did He say, “your faith”? It is because it was their faith that opened and released the power of God to make them whole.
Confession:
I believe the report of the Lord and His mighty arm has been revealed unto me. My faith is productive and it is yielding results to God’s glory and for my benefit.
