1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the substance of things hoped for. What does “substance” mean? Substance is a setting under; support, assurance. In the dictionary, substance means the quality of being dependable or stable. In other words, faith is failure proof.
If you were doing something that you thought was faith and it failed you, then it was not faith. I do not want to judge you, but I want to deliver you, so I will repeat that (even to myself): If you, or anyone you knew, was doing something that you thought was faith and it failed, then it was not faith. Too many of us go ahead and accuse God and say that faith does not work when this happens. If it is faith, then it works always. The question to ask is: how do you know it failed you? It’s not over until you say it’s over. You are the deciding factor. So if you’ve declared that faith has failed you and that you have given up, it means you’ve declared it’s over. The true God-kind of faith is failure proof. It cannot fail you.
True faith has been put to the test in the “lions’ den with Daniel.” It has been put to the test with barren Sarah. It has been put to the test with Jairus’ dying daughter. It has been put to the test with “crazy” Noah. It has been put to the test with Joseph from the pit to the prison to the palace. It has been put to the test with the ex-prostitute Rahab. Faith has been put to the test through the years and it didn’t fail a single person, and so your case will not be different. Faith is failure proof. If you are standing by faith for anything in any area of your life, let me give you the assurance and reassure you, that if it is the faith of the Bible, it won’t fail you.
Confession:
Faith is failure proof. Faith hasn’t failed anybody through the years, and it will not prove different in my case. Knowing this, I will never give up on anything I believe is God’s will for me.
