1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
Some believers are experts at “double-talk.” They are so good at it that they can even sound deeply spiritual when doing so.
As a believer do you take time out to consider and talk about what you see, about the pain you feel, about the symptoms you are experiencing, about the state of your bank account, about the fact that you are unemployed, about how bad things are and how you don’t know how anything can ever change for you? Then in the same breath that you talk of all that do you then listlessly say, “Anyway I’m believing God.” Forget it! That is “double-talk” at its best. If it is something to do with your health, you had better go and get some help from a medical doctor before the Devil kills you, because the minute you begin to consider and analyze and discuss what your sense realm is feeding you, faith takes a bow and steps out. It may sound tough and even scary, but it is true.
Faith has nothing to do with your five senses. It is the evidence of things not seen or not registered by the senses. Someone says, “You don’t really under- stand. This pain is killing me. I really want to be in faith, but it’s really killing me and what the doctor said is really right. In fact, the doctor who has been in this field for 25 years says he has never seen a case as hard as my own.” With due respect to doctors, anything a doctor tells you is limited to the sense realm by virtue of his training. Didn’t doctors tell the woman with the issue of blood they couldn’t help her? Wasn’t Sarah barren from her youth, registered that she could not have children? Abraham married a barren wife. I am sure that at some point in their marriage, doctors would have tested her and found out she couldn’t have children; but Isaac was born. Get rid of double-talk. It won’t help you.
Confession:
Double-talk is dangerous to faith. I refuse to consider, analyze and discuss what the sense realm feeds me.
