DIVINE HEALING: NOT A WAR AGAINST DOCTORS AND DRUGS

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

3 John 2

Healing is very central in the heart of God. He wants you to prosper and be in health. Simply, that means that God wants you well. God wants you healed, and whole. When you are healed and whole, you can fulfil purpose and destiny. This is why we need to know the truth where healing is concerned. Today, many churches and preachers teach on divine healing, thus a lot of Christians think they know what divine healing is. I thank God for all the revelations we have received on healing, but it is important to consider what divine healing is not. This, I believe, will help some of us get back on track with exactly what God’s heart is, concerning healing and position us to receive healing from the Father.

The very first thing divine healing is not is this: it is not a war against doctors and drugs. Many times we hear Christians say things like, “In our church, we don’t go to the doctor.” Or, “In our church we don’t take drugs.” Refusing to go to the hospital or deciding not to take drugs, has absolutely nothing to do with divine healing.

In my opinion, I think the most honourable offices a believer can be called into are the fivefold ministry gifts: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher (Ephesians 4:11). However, after the fivefold ministry gifts, it is also my opinion that the work of a doctor is a very honourable profession. I believe that God created doctors; although the enemy has inspired some of the breakthroughs in medicine, most of them have been divinely inspired.

A lot of Christians have misunderstood divine healing. We think it’s an “either or” situation. That is, if I am with a doctor, then I am no longer with God; or, if I am with God, then I cannot be with a doctor. God can help you through a doctor. However, God does not need a doctor in order to help you. God does not step aside and take His hands off when a doctor gets rightly involved in your health situation. However, God does not need a doctor in order to get involved in your case because God is self-existent. He’s El-Shaddai: the One who has everything in Himself. It is possible for you to grow your faith to the point where the Word of God is the only medicine that you need because it’s so potent that you don’t need another one.

Confession:
God desires that I live in health and so do I.
