9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.
11 And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

Mark 16:9-11

Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene. He did not appear to Peter, or to any of His other disciples. Amongst all the people Jesus had come in contact with, the only person He chose to appear to, was the woman from whom He had driven out seven demons. He went to the one whose thankful heart was transparent for all to see. Wherever the resurrection story is told, it will always be reported that it was Mary Magdalene who first saw Jesus after His resurrection. When you have a thankful heart, you become relevant in God’s scheme of things. When your addiction to Jesus shows in all that you do, people may criticize you, but Jesus will notice you, lift you up and make you relevant in God’s scheme of things.
When Mary Magdalene saw the Lord, He spoke certain things to her (John 20:17-18). In another place we read that when she came and told the disciples she had seen Jesus, they did not believe her. Her words seemed like idle tales (Luke 24:10-11), because it was “Mary.” Those who had eaten, slept, walked with Jesus and were counted as His disciples were bypassed and Mary, the ex-demoniac, was told things by the Master Himself. This was a testimony of her commitment.

The effect of a thankful heart never ends because as you remain thankful to God, you will experience one good thing, then another good thing and yet another one, and the cycle never ends; it keeps going on and on. Make a decision never to run dry of praise and thanksgiving to your heavenly Father.
