On the 10th of October 2011, Pastor Nkechi called me to register a car for some one. After registering the car, she gave me a gift of ₦15,000.00 and said it was for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised and I decided to sow the money to Pastor Charles after taking out my tithe. I thanked her for the money and I remember telling her about one of my bank accounts that had not received any credit in about eight months. She paid money into it but went on to remind me that we are in our year of accelerated bumper harvests.
I got a call on the night of 13th October, from a foreign number and when I answered, a man introduced himself to me and said, “I know you will not remember me. I bought a car from you four years ago.” I finally remembered him when he mentioned his name. He asked if I had a Hummer Jeep. I told him I did not have, but that I could get it for him. He said he would come into town in about one week and would come to my office.
He came to my office as promised and I showed him pictures of Hummer Jeeps but the one he wanted was not one of them. I assured him I could get the one he wanted for him. He quietly asked me how he could buy what he had not seen. I was quiet for a few minutes and then I asked him if he could trust me, and he said he could. So I asked him to give me the money to buy the car for him and he gave me ₦7.5 Million Naira — on trust, without any sureties or signing of agreement. I bought him a wonderful H2 pick up Hummer Jeep.
