17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

“New creation” in Greek is kainos ktisis which means new species. Kainos means new, especially in freshness, not a renewal. You may have a fairly used car that is rusty and leaking and you take it to a very good panel-beater who works and sprays paint on it. The car may look new but that doesn’t make it a new car. The car was simply renewed or renovated. That is not what happened to you when you got born again and became a new creation.

Ktisis on the other hand, means original formation. You may conceive of it as a product just from the factory. When you became born again, what came into existence never existed before. God actually created a kainos ktisis in His image and likeness, and gave you life as He has it.

The good news is that this new creation did not partake of Adam’s fall and does not know the depravity, the sin and the shortcomings of Adam. When you got born again, the old “Adamic” nature in you changed. It’s not passing away; it has already passed away! Friend, realize that who you are now, is not the same you that existed before. As a new creation, you are a brand new product of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

You are the direct workmanship of the Almighty God. It doesn’t matter how many people have looked at you and said mean things like, “God probably created you at the end of the day when He was already tired!” God is your Manufacturer and He does not make mistakes. Why you are so different from those other people you compare yourself with, is because God is not a boring God. He is the God of variety and He made you with unique and perfect features, so that you can create a variety in His world.

You may have gone window-shopping before and you saw some nice, expensive things on display that you couldn’t buy. In the eyes of God you are on display. You are His pride; you are everything to Him.
