He Alone Has Delivered My Family

Shortly after our wedding and my wife moved into my house, I had this consciousness that our home and family is under a better covenant, and that nothing evil would come into our home. During the first week of June 2017, I had to copy out the soft copies of Unveiling Psalm 91 (Parts 1-8) into a flash drive and we played these messages nonstop in our bedroom. The word about “relating to God based on the covenant” was my rhema word and I keyed into it.

Later in the week, we got home to find out that the electrical distribution box (DB) in my flat was bad and the power into our flat was cut off as a result of the bad distribution box. Upon close inspection, I found out that the fuse in the electrical distribution box needed replacement. Since I am electrically inclined, I decided to go buy a new fuse and change it myself. I bought the fuse from a shop and then quickly went home to fix the DB. At this point, I went to the central power inlet point of our block and disconnected the cutout fuse, which is a safety measure and standard practice. I took the disconnected cutout fuse into my flat since my neighbours were not home and I wanted to ensure that no one would erroneously replace the cutout fuse while I was working with the electrical lines.

It took me about thirty to forty-five minutes to replace the fuse of the distribution box and all the while my beautiful wife had to hold the torch light for me, since the room was dark. I even teased her saying, “See husband and wife turned electrician on their honeymoon,” and we both laughed. When we were done, we both went to the central power inlet to reconnect the power, which was initially disconnected to enable me work on the DB in my flat, only to meet a huge shock. I found my neighbour and her ward with a new cutout fuse, already trying to reconnect the power. Their explanation was that when they got back, they noticed that the fuse was out, and since they needed to use the light, they hurriedly went to the husband’s pile of electrical stuff and found a spare cutout fuse. I panicked initially because a lot of scenarios started playing in my head. A close examination of the new cutout fuse, my neighbour brought showed that the wire inside was disconnected, so when they placed it in the cutout box, the power never came up. That was not anything but God going ahead of us.

I want to thank God for saving my wife and I from being electrocuted, I never and will never take God’s protection over my family for granted. There is a very great possibility that if the cutout fuse was okay, the light would have been reconnected by my neighbour while I was still working and I would have been electrocuted including my wife, who was just standing beside me, because her reflex action would have been trying to hold me to find out what was wrong, and you know what that means.

To God be all the glory! I give Him praise for He alone has delivered my family. He was the One that played a fast one on the devil because we would have been saying a different story by now. One thing to learn from this is that I would have put a large sign up on paper by the fuse box explaining why the fuse box was out. God is merciful. I want to strongly recommend the message Unveiling Psalm 91 by Pastor Nkechi Ene for every family. The message gave me a clear insight on Psalm 91, which we confess at the close of every service. I believe that the more we understand this psalm and the power in it; we will have the awareness of our security in God and taking our confession very serious and personal.
