YOU NEED GOD’S GRACE

9 Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

2 Timothy 1:9-10

In order to get born again, you needed the grace of God for your salvation. You were saved by grace (Ephesians 2:5). Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us in the fullness of grace (John 1:14). He did this so that we might be saved. Jesus Christ, who is full of grace has revealed this grace. He has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. That means that life and immortality were hidden and covered, but He who was full of grace came to reveal them, because He knew you needed life more abundantly. When He came, He destroyed death and He unveiled life and immortality and He poured grace into you.

You also need His grace to grow up spiritually. Without grace you can’t grow. In Acts 20:32 Paul said, “I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up…” Some people get born again by grace and then they backslide and they fall away. It’s simply because they have not commended themselves to God and to the Word of His grace. His grace will build you up, His grace will establish your heart, and it will make you stand.

Friend, it doesn’t end there. God knew that in the ages to come we would need grace and He made provision for it. Ephesians 2:7 says, “That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” At the time this verse was written, we were “the ages to come,” but there are still more ages to come. So whatever you have experienced of the grace of God there is still more. God is still ready to show us the riches of His grace in the ages to come. Hallelujah.

Where would you be without the grace of God?

Confession:

Lord, Your grace saved me, but thank You that it didn’t end at salvation from sin, because there is much more. Your grace towards me is so abundant.
