Who Cares How I Look?

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:14

I remember when The Carpenter’s Church (then Royal Evangel Church), started and we used to meet in a small nursery classroom. Pastor Charles would come to church in his suit. (He had two then!) He wore a suit because he knew where he was going. He didn’t come to church in a t-shirt. Some ministers starting a new church go to church in a t-shirt, dirty pair of jeans and flip-flop slippers, and they expect the congregation to take them seriously. That’s not faith. Pastor Charles would come to a classroom of five people, and would stand there and minister with power and a great anointing, just as he ministers today. He would act like he was ministering to 5000 or 6000 people. He was seeing our auditorium, which is currently under construction as at the time of the first publishing of this book. Now I can say this, though I never said this then – he sure did look foolish! Preaching with all that power and passion in a nursery classroom? That is how faith looks. Faith does not mind looking foolish.
I learnt that principle early and it has been my liberation. Who cares how I look? I have decided that I only care how I look to God. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God. Turn that verse over: only with faith is it possible to please God. When I am sure I am in faith, and I act accordingly, I may look foolish to you, but to God, the Author and Finisher of my faith, I look wise, I look spiritual, I connect with Him, and most of all, I look victorious!

Jesus made many statements of faith in the years He walked on this earth and He was scorned, scoffed and mocked because He sounded foolish, but His statements have passed the test of time. Your actions of faith will pass the test of time. Those who are laughing at you will laugh with you. Just focus and be sure you are in faith and then be confident to say, “Who cares how I look?”

Confession:

Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even my faith. I am born of God and I am an overcomer!
