17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17
The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. In the context of the believer’s armour as enlisted in Ephesians 6, the sword is the only offensive component of the armour. The rest are defensive. The sword was not in the armour just for decorative purposes, it was meant to be used. The Word is not just there as a monument. It is an effective component in your armour. God gave you His Word for you to wage your warfare with it. Christians love to talk about warfare and engaging the enemy and doing battle, but many times the Word of God is not included in their arsenal! The only fight you are to fight is the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12). You can fight the good fight of faith by the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.
The Devil came against Jesus, to tempt Him. Each time he wanted Jesus to do or say something that wasn’t right, Jesus used the Word of God and said, “It is written… It is written… It is written…” (Matthew 4:3, 7, 10). In all the areas that the Devil tried to make Jesus sin, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God against the Devil and He had victory.
I would like you to know that if you will still use the Word of God today, you will have victory in every area of your life. It doesn’t matter where the enemy is coming from, the sword of the Spirit can handle him. The sword of the Spirit is an efficient and effective weapon for you to use. So don’t just leave the Word of God without using it. Don’t just leave your Bible there, take it and use it by speaking the Word therein, just like Jesus Christ did when He said, “It is written…It is written… It is written…” When you speak the Word out of your mouth, it is sure to give you victory in every situation.
Confession: I fight the good fight of faith with the Word of God. I speak the Word of God to circumstances and situations and I always have the victory.
