1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.
2 Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what evil will be on the earth.

Ecclesiastes 11:1-2

There are two tomorrows. There is a tomorrow with evil all over the face of the earth. The Bible says that darkness shall cover the earth (Isaiah 60:2). The darkness of poverty and great inflation has covered the earth. When I was growing up as a little child my mum referring to the “good old days” would say we did not experience the times when one could buy much food for very little money. We were so poor that the poor called us poor. When my mum would travel and leave my elder brother and I with my father, he would give us 5 shillings (5 shillings is equivalent to 50 kobo or 0.3 cents today). With that we were supposed to buy garri (grated and fried cassava) and make soup, which was supposed to last for at least 4 to 5 days.

I worked in a bank in the 1980s. Then, the exchange rate of the Naira was higher than that of the US Dollar. Today (at the time of publishing this book), the exchange rate is about 150 Naira to 1 US Dollar. Prayers won’t change it. Many Christians have prayed for hours and their prayers have not changed the situation. Frankly speaking, it seems to be getting worse.

There is another tomorrow! It is in this tomorrow, that you will find what you have given. Regardless of how long it takes, you will find it “after many days.” If you cast your bread upon the water, after many days, it will return to you. It will not return in the same size, because it would have absorbed water. In the evil day, when some people will be holding thin, dry bread and some others will not have any to hold, you will be rejoicing with “swollen bread.”

Gross darkness may cover the earth but what I see in my tomorrow is my life, prosperity, peace, and purpose shining brightly like a beacon of hope in the midst of the darkness.
