25 “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.
26 I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, for trouble comes.”

Job 3:25-26

Where do you think Job greatly feared those things which eventually came upon him? He greatly feared them in his mind. How do you think they got to the stage of being things he greatly feared? It was through his meditation. He meditated on those things he feared, over and over again. Sometimes you may just be where you are and you just receive “thought bombs.” Maybe a thought hits you and you think your baby is going to die, or some terrible thing is going to happen to you. The first thing you must understand is that those thoughts are not yours. They are merely “thought bombs” that the spirit of fear is trying to offer you to see if you will accept them.

When fear lurks about and you give it entrance into your mind like Job did, it will bear fruit. You accept the “thought bombs” of fear when you begin to meditate upon and think about them. Then they begin to grow. They get bigger and bigger until you get to the stage where like Job the thing which you fear finally comes upon you. The reason for this is that the more you meditate upon and think about something, the greater and bigger it is going to become in your mind’s eye and eventually that is what you are going to experience.

Don’t just watch every TV program or read every book or newspaper. You may be suffering from some kind of symptoms and you are standing on God’s Word knowing you have been healed by the stripes of Jesus. What then is the point of surfing the internet or reading all kinds of medical journals, where you will find the descriptions of the very same symptoms that you are trusting God to be free of? As you read further down such articles, you find out that the condition is medically incurable. Then fear comes in and tells you that you are going to die. Fear has gained access, and you allowed it. The things you listen to and the people you hang around with matter a lot, if you must guard your heart from the spirit of fear.

I will not accept the thought bombs of fear by meditating upon them and talking about them, because I understand that those thoughts are not mine. They are emissaries of the spirit of fear. I guard my heart from the spirit of fear by being discreet about what I listen to and the people I associate with.
