THE VISITOR AT THE GATE

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

Psalm 121:3-6

As a child of God you live in a fortress. He that keeps the children of the covenant does not sleep unlike some of our security men!

Think of yourself as the owner of a fortress. In a well organized fortress, when a visitor comes to the gate he meets the first barrier – a security man, or a computerized security system. The visitor is asked to state his name, his intention and if he has an appointment. Then this information is sent to you, the owner of the fortress, who is safe and secure within. If it is a visitor you don’t want to see, you will say, “No, I don’t want to see him.” You have spoken and that is what will happen. The visitor or stranger who is at your gate will not see you. You refused to give him an entrance permit. Someone passing by the street may see him at your gate and think you had an appointment with him but you did not have one.

He visited your gate, but you did not see him. It was your choice because you live in a fortress. If you lived in a bro- ken down hut along the road, you have no control over who walks into your “home.” This is when the joker of the enemy is played out in full.

If the doctor says to you, “You have cancer,” say, “No, I do not have cancer; I have healing.” Cancer may be at the gate, but do not permit it to enter. Or maybe you are told, “You have been retrenched, and so you are now a poor man.” The people who told you these things saw sickness, death and poverty at your gate but you are the one to decide whether you will let them in or not.

Realize that they are like visitors at your gate. You decide if you are going to let them in or not, by your words, actions and attitude. You are a king in a fortress, if you decree a thing, it shall be established.

Confession:
I recognize all the things that the spirit of fear wants to bring into my life are like visitors standing at the gate of my fortress waiting for my permission to let them in. I refuse to give permission to anything contrary to my covenant.
