SIN’S VIRUS

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

Psalm 51:5

When a baby is born, more often than not, we all get excited because of how cute the baby is. To every parent and even grandparent, their newborn baby is the cutest, loveliest little human being alive. Sometimes I get amused when I see parents exclaiming over a wrinkled, bald headed, baby as being extremely cute! Well, before I get mischievous, let me get back to what we are focusing on. What we see as cute and lovely in a baby is the baby’s body or outer man. Every person comprises of spirit, soul and body. If you could see the spirit of every cute newborn baby, you would sit down and shed tears. When a baby is born, it is a rotten, stinking, smelling sprit that is inside. The only thing worth rejoicing about the birth of a baby is the miracle of creation: the baby’s body is complete. You also rejoice about making a commitment to show that baby the way to the new creation.

Apart from these, there is actually nothing worth celebrating about the birth of a baby because it’s a dead spirit that was born. If someone gave birth to a child and the child tested HIV positive, the family may not celebrate. The HIV virus is not seen, but once the blood is tested and it is discovered that the child is HIV positive, some people abandon the baby and run away. I’ve been to a Children’s Home in our city and seen beautiful children who were abandoned on the streets because they were HIV positive. How sad.

Friend, a baby carrying the HIV virus is really nothing compared to every baby being born with sin’s virus: the epidemic that Adam released on every single baby, irrespective of how cute or how “ugly” that baby is. It is difficult for us to see it because it is not physical. That is why when babies are born and dedicated to God, the parents ought to agree to raise them up in the fear and nurture of the Lord. If a baby does not become a new creation there is really nothing worth celebrating about that life.

Confession:

I am born again, a new creation in Christ Jesus. My life is worth celebrating.
